Let’s Match (“we”) helps a group pick a movie or show to watch together. This page explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and your choices. Questions: hello@lets-match.com.
The short version
- No accounts. We never ask for your email or phone number.
- We never sell anything that identifies you.
- The names people type are deleted after 90 days.
What we collect
- What you enter in a session: the name you type (any name works; it doesn’t have to be your real one), your vibes, languages and streaming apps, and each yes or no swipe. Your group sees your name and choices: that’s how the app works.
- A random ID kept on your phone, so the app knows you when you come back to a session. It isn’t linked to your name, email or phone number.
- Notifications, only if you turn them on: an address from your browser, so we can tell you when your group’s picks are in or someone nudges you. They’re delivered through your browser’s push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla).
- Usage statistics (PostHog, in the EU): which screens are used, taps, loading times, your country, your browser type, and whether the page froze. No cookies, no profile of you, no screen recordings, and on-screen text, such as names, is hidden before anything is sent.
- Technical data: your internet (IP) address, used to block abuse and to work out your country. Error reports go to our hosting logs for a few days.
What we don’t collect
Your email, phone number, contacts, precise location or payment details. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
Why we use it
- To give you the service you asked for: your name, choices, swipes and the random ID.
- With your permission: notifications. You can turn them off any time in your browser.
- To keep the app working, safe and improving: usage statistics, abuse blocking and error reports.
Who else handles it
Each only for its own part:
| Company | For | Where |
|---|
| Supabase | Our database | Japan |
| Cloudflare | Hosting the app, blocking abuse | Worldwide |
| PostHog | Usage statistics | EU |
| TMDB | Film details and posters. Posters load straight from TMDB, so TMDB sees your IP address | Worldwide |
| YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) | Trailers, only when you tap one; YouTube’s own policy applies | Worldwide |
| Google, Apple, Mozilla | Delivering notifications, only if you turn them on | Worldwide |
Links to streaming apps take you to their sites, and their own policies apply there. Our database is in Japan, which the EU recognises as protecting personal data properly.
How long we keep it
| What | Kept for |
|---|
| Sessions nobody played | 6 hours, then deleted |
| Names | 90 days, then deleted. The swipes stay, with no name attached |
| Notification addresses | 90 days unused, or until your browser cancels them |
| Abuse counters (they contain IP addresses) | 1 day |
| Sign-in logs (they contain IP addresses) | 90 days |
| The random ID | Deleted after 90 days unused |
| Usage statistics | 1 year |
Anonymous statistics
We may share or sell combined, anonymous statistics, such as “68% of groups said yes to thrillers this month”, that can never identify you or your group.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it.
- Email hello@lets-match.com with your session code and the name you used. With no accounts, that’s how we find your data.
- We reply within 30 days.
- In Europe or the UK, you can also complain to your country’s data protection authority. In India, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Let’s Match is for people 18 and over, or younger with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you think a child used it without permission, email us and we’ll delete their data.
On your phone
We use no tracking cookies. Your browser keeps only what the app needs:
- the random ID;
- votes not yet sent;
- which tips you’ve already seen;
- a short note used to tell if the page froze, deleted when you close the tab.
Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes. For big changes, we’ll say so in the app first. If ads ever come, this page will say so before they appear.
